About Kellersvej 10

Kellersvej 10 is owned by Gladsaxe County and is a middle specialized housing for 60 mentally retarded and handicapped people in the age of 18-89.

Kellersvej 10 consists of 4 semi attached houses in 2 levels. Access to the 2nd floor is either by stairs or lift. Four rooms (18 m2) have own bath and toilet. 56 rooms (15m2) share bath and toilet for every two rooms. The houses are placed in an area of natural beauty close to a preserved moor.

The housing is for persons with Down's syndrome, atypical autism, epilepsy, fragile x-syndrome and multiple psychiatric diseases. All residents need help or support for all daily doings.It is important to create a structured and predictable environment for the residents.

The aim of the social workers' effort is, in co-operation with the resident, to organize an everyday routine in a way that makes him or her able to live according to own wishes and needs. The individual needs are taken into consideration but also the need for social togetherness is very important, and is a big part of our work.

Co-operation with persons who have influence and impact on the residents is very important. This is contact with family, friends and sweethearts, but also nurses, doctors and occupational therapist.
